If someone had told me a few years ago that I would be confidently standing in front of a classroom, teaching Bowen Therapy to eager students, I would have dismissed the idea entirely. Teaching once felt like something for people with natural authority, with voices that commanded attention. But as I’ve come to realise, stepping into the role of a teacher is not about having all the answers—it is about sharing, connecting, and growing alongside those you teach.
The Unexpected Gift of Teaching
Before 2019, the idea of speaking in front of a group—let alone demonstrating hands-on techniques—was overwhelming. I questioned whether I could articulate what I knew, worried about the unexpected questions, and doubted my ability to guide others effectively. But looking back, I can see that all the knowledge and skills I needed were already within me. Years of practising Bowen Therapy had given me deep understanding; I just needed the confidence to express it.
When I took the leap and became a tutor at Bowen College UK, something shifted. Teaching was not about performance—it was about connection. I quickly discovered that students were not looking for perfection; they were looking for someone who could guide them with authenticity and real-world experience. In turn, their curiosity deepened my own learning, making me a better therapist and teacher.
A Journey of Growth
Fast forward to today, and I am now qualified to teach the Certified Bowen Healthcare Therapist training, as well as the Introduction to Bowen course that’s open to everyone to attend. What once felt terrifying has become one of my greatest joys. Teaching has shown me that growth does not come from staying within our comfort zones—it comes from stepping forward, even when we are unsure. Every class I teach is an opportunity to refine my knowledge, share my passion, and witness others embark on their own transformative journeys.
Beyond the Classroom: Expanding My Purpose
As my confidence in teaching grew, so did my desire to share Bowen Therapy in new ways. This led me to develop a course focusing on how trauma is held in the body and how it can be released or reframed to promote healing. This course, Emotional Reset, is now offered as a CPD course at Bowen College UK. It is a testament to how stepping into our purpose often opens doors we never expected.
I also began leading bi-monthly guided meditation groups—safe spaces where people can explore healing through mindfulness and self-reflection. These sessions reinforce what I have learned through teaching: that wellness is not a solo journey. We grow, heal, and evolve through connection.
