Every day we experience a multitude of emotions, through events we see, hear, read about or are involved. How we deal with that information, is down to our perception of it and our processing. And that, is subject to our individuality, conditioning, beliefs, triggers and the emotional-load we are already carrying. Perhaps now you can appreciate why we are so complex!

We have some 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts every day - just thoughts. Now add past experiences and your current interactions with life. It is quite a mixture of emotions and some will be more prominent than others. Take a look at the Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions to the right and see what resonates with you.  

The key to emotional balancing and ultimately balance the mind and body, is to address the experience and/or feeling, before it manifests in to something more profound and permanent, leading to limiting beliefs, conditioning and learned behaviour. So, having a tool or technique is handy, as we have a multitude of experiences during the day which may have an impact on our wellbeing in the future.  This includes joyful experiences,  that may also be life-changing.

Physical symptoms manifest in a variety of ways, depending on the dominant emotion. The onset of such symptoms can be rapid, where trauma has been severe, which often results in PTSD. For example: the sudden death of a loved-one may cause conditions affecting the lung and perhaps the liver, as these organs and meridians are associated with grief and anger. Silent trauma, may take years to manifest, with slow and subtle onset, until the last straw breaks the camel's back. This may include: being subjected to bullying, narcissism, gaslighting, being undervalued, made to feel unworthy, undeserving, a failure, blamed etc. It would also extend to non-consensual marital sex.

As with any trauma-based symptoms, the client/therapist relationship is critical. Feeling safe and having absolute trust is of paramount importance, to achieve the best outcome.
